The President of the Workers’ Party, Michael Donnelly, has issued a  final appeal urging voters to support the party’s candidates in Friday’s general election

“Votes for the Workers’ Party in Friday’s general election are votes for radical progressive policies and for an end to the cronyism and corruption of the big four parties”, said Michael Donnelly.

Workers Party President Michael Donnelly

“The Workers’ Party has consistently campaigned on the issues that really affect ordinary workers and their families.  It is fighting for a real and meaningful jobs creation programme,  for a proper health system with full access to all people regardless of income,  for an end to the scandalous water charges; for a meaningful investment programme to end the housing crisis once and for all, and for the repeal of the 8th amendment of the constitution to ensure that women have the right to control their own bodies, including their fertility, and to pursue all reproductive choices”

“These are the key issues facing ordinary people at this time and it requires the radical innovative policies that the Workers’ Party is seeking to have implemented.”

Mr. Donnelly also stated that after giving their first preferences to Workers’ Party candidates voters should continue to give their other preferences to parties and candidates whose policies are close to those of the Workers Party.  In constituencies where there is no Workers Party candidate he urged party supporters cast their vote in a similar way.

The Workers Party is contesting five constituencies in the general election: Dublin Central, Dublin North West, Dublin Mid West, Meath East and Cork North Central.
