The Workers’ Party has called for a large turnout at next Saturday’s nationwide Right2Water marches.

Party spokesman and Meath East candidate Seamus McDonagh has said a clear message needs to be given to both the government and the opposition parties that the issue of water charges was not going away and would be a major bone of contention in the forthcoming general election.

Mr. McDonagh has said that Irish Water was now on an extremely expensive life-support line from the government and the water charges regime was in big trouble.  He said, “Despite constant threats and deliberately inflated payment figures aimed at cowing opposition to these water charges the is still mass opposition to them right across the country.  The government knows this but needs to be given another demonstration of the strength of people’s feeling.  That’s why the Workers’ Party is calling for a big turnout at Saturday’s marches so that Irish Water can be buried once and for all after”

Seamus McDonagh will be participating in the Right2Water rally at Ashbourne, Co. Meath while Workers’ Party activists around the country will be joining their local marches.  See full list of Right2Water rallies below.
