The Workers’ Party Ard Fheis / Annual Delegate Conference closed in Dublin last night (Saturday) with a rousing rendition of The Internationale, the anthem of the international socialist and communist movement.
One of the best attended Ard Fheiseanna in years, the conference considered a wide range of motions on political, economic, social and international issues in addition to a series of proposals aimed at modernising and professionalising the party’s work at all levels.
The conference was addressed on Friday evening by the Cuban Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Dr. Hermes Herrara Hernández who spoke about the strong links between Cuban and the Cuban Communist Party has with the Workers’ Party of Ireland. The ambassador received a standing ovation from the delegates and guests and was warmly greeted by Workers Party President Mickey Donnelly.
A new Central Executive Committee was elected for the next year and outgoing Party President Mickey Donnelly was re-elected for a two year term.
