Irish Government Insults Those Who Liberated Auschwitz While Ignoring Present-Day Fascist Murders, Says Workers’ Party President.

Workers’ Party President Mick Donnelly has condemned the Labour Party minister Aodhán Ó Riordáin for insulting the memory of those who liberated Europe from fascism and ended the Nazi genocide while at the same time turning a blind eye to fascist murders in the Ukraine.

“It was the immense sacrifices of the peoples of the Soviet Union that crushed Hitler and the Nazi regime. 80% of Nazi casualties were suffered on the eastern front. Even Winston Churchill commented that it was the Red Army that ripped the guts out of Hitler’s army.

“And yet today we see a Labour Party minister opening an exhibition that seeks to equate those who liberated Auschwitz with the genocidal fascists who operated it”, said Mr. Donnelly.

“The exhibition entitled ‘Totalitarianism in Europe’ is based on a monstrous lie that equates Communism and Fascism. This is political propaganda at its crudest, and is part of an agenda that is being pushed within the EU by right-wing governments that themselves regularly violate democracy.

“For example, Communist organisations have been banned in several countries that support this agenda, such as the Czech Republic.

Svoboda was in EU supported Ukrainian cabinet until November 2014.

“Meanwhile, real fascists have been murdering Communists in Ukraine without so much as a peep from the EU or the Irish government. Only yesterday, a photograph appeared on Irish social media of neo-Nazis giving the Hitler salute inside the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs. These are the same people giving banners with photographs of Hitler and Ukrainian collaborators to schoolchildren.”, said Mick Donnelly.
