Conference in Session

Workers Party Ard Fheis in session at CWU Headquarters, Dublin.

The Workers’ Party Ard Fheis / Annual Delegate Conference 2014 took place yesterday (September 27th) at the headquarters of the Communications’ Workers Union in Dublin. The aim of the conference was to create the basis for the renewal and rebuilding of The Workers’ Party as the leading Party of the Left in Ireland, a class conscious Party of the working class, capable of advancing the revolutionary struggle against Capitalism and for the building of Socialism in Ireland.

Members gave a standing ovation to outgoing Party President Mick Finnegan who had served ably in that capacity since 2008.  A new Central Executive Committee (Ard Comhairle) was elected and a new Party President who is Michael Donnelly, a university lecturer. The conference welcomed new members of the party, many of whom contributed to the discussion and debate.
