Some of the Workers’ Party contingent at the Dublin Right2Water march

Despite continuous incessant rain across Ireland today thousands of people turned out for the latest in a series of Right 2 Water marches in protest against the double taxation of Water Charges and the continued metering programme of Irish Water, the national utility which is clearly intended for eventual privatisation.

The Workers’ Party participated in marches in numerous cities and towns including the capital where the party had a large turnout of members and supporters.  The party has a long-term policy of opposition to water charges, pointing out that the provision of funding for water management already comes from central taxation.
