The Workers’ Party in Dublin is to hold a public forum on the housing crisis, Thursday 15th October, 7.30pm, at the Axis Centre, Ballymun.
In the midst of an ever worsening housing emergency, the Workers’ Party is hosting a public forum for people to come and share their experiences and opinions on the housing crisis.
Speakers will include Fr. Peter McVerry, housing and homelessness campaigner. Lorraine Hennessy, housing activist with Balgaddy Working Together. Jimmy Dignam, Workers’ Party Dublin North West representative.
Jimmy Dignam said of the event, “the news over the weekend of the tragic deaths of 10 people in Carrickmines and the death of yet another homeless person in Dublin, are yet another bleak reminder of the starkest realities and scale of this housing emergency.” “There are currently 42,000 people on the housing waiting list in Dublin, and 4000 covering the areas that cover Finglas and Ballymun alone. It is crystal clear that radical and social action is needed, yet this Government continues to rely solely on developers and landlords to solve a crisis, which they can only ever deepen.”
The Workers Party invites everyone in the community to come have their say on the housing crisis and situation in Ballymun.
